Meeting Your Estate Planning Needs in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon

Contrary to what many people think, you don't have to be wealthy or elderly to need an estate plan. Everyone should have an estate plan in place to specify their wishes regarding what will happen to their assets after they pass, to appoint responsible individuals to manage their estate in the event of death or incapacity, as well as to make medical and financial decisions when they are unable to make these decisions for themselves.

At the Eugene, Oregon, office of Travis L. Sydow, Attorney at Law, I provide affordable estate planning services for clients throughout the Southern Willamette Valley, tailored to their specific situation and needs.

It's never too early to plan for the future. Call 541-359-4503 or contact me online to schedule an initial consultation to discuss your estate planning needs.

Estate Planning for All Stages of Life

My firm is dedicated to understanding your individual situation and helping you create an affordable estate planning package that you are comfortable with, no matter what stage of life you are in.

Parents with Dependent Children. With the proper estate plan in place, you can appoint a guardian to care for your children should you pass away, as well as name a trustee to manage their inheritance while they are still minors or unable to manage their own finances.

Retiring or Retired Adults. Smart estate planning can allow your loved ones to avoid the lengthy and expensive probate process. You can ensure that your wishes regarding the distribution of your assets will be followed after you die. Moreover, you can express your wishes regarding healthcare and financial decisions in advance, should you ever become unable to communicate them due to illness, injury or other incapacity.

People with a Taxable Estate. Putting together an effective estate planning strategy now can effectively preserve your assets for your loved ones. It allows you to reduce the amount of your estate that will go to the government in taxes after you die.

Every adult should have a plan in place for the future. We will put together an estate plan that is affordable and makes sense for your unique situation. We will craft your estate plan using a will and, in certain cases, a revocable or irrevocable trust.

In addition, these valuable documents are included at no charge with every estate planning package I create:

  • Advance healthcare directive, which addresses medical decisions if you become incapacitated
  • Durable financial power of attorney, which addresses financial decisions if you become incapacitated
  • Directives on disposition of your remains

What To Expect: An Efficient Estate Planning Process

When it comes to estate planning, you do not want to waste money on excessive legal fees or sit through long meetings with your lawyer. At my firm, I emphasize an efficient and streamlined process. I charge an affordable flat fee for an estate planning package, so that you will always know what to expect in advance.

  • During your initial consultation, I will work to understand your situation and describe the process generally.
  • I will send you an Estate Planning Organizer packet that explains all the estate planning documents described above in more detail.
  • After you complete and return the Estate Planning Organizer, I will set up a meeting with you.
  • I will draft your estate planning documents, tailoring each to fit your individual needs and objectives.
  • During the meeting, I will go over the documents with you and make sure you understand and are comfortable with the framework of your plan.
  • Once you are comfortable with your estate planning arrangement, we will finalize the documents and put the plan to work.
